Lansing Art Gallery's Holiday Art Market

I just sent off eight different styles of cards to be apart of Lansing Art Gallery's Holiday Art Market - this is one of the most exciting things I've ever done with my cards. I think it means a lot to me because this is a local thing - I'm in East Lansing, the next city over.

If you are in Michigan, I really hope you can come to Lansing and visit the Holiday Art Market November 16th - December 22nd, Tuesday - Thursday 10 AM - 4 PM; Friday 10 AM - 5 PM; Saturdays 1 PM - 4 PM. Friday, November 16th is Silver Bells in the City, Lansing's holiday event with a light parade and the lighting of the official state tree. The Holiday Art Market will be open from 5 PM - 9 PM on this night.

When I wrote my last post, I was out of town - expecting to be home on Tuesday, but Hurricane Sandy affected our travels. I am so behind on pretty much everything, so I've had to close my Etsy shop for a week. That is so hard for me to do - I rarely ever do it, but I know if I want to sleep during the next week, it had to be done.

I'm Etsy's Featured Seller!

Wow. I never thought in my 4.5 years of selling on Etsy that I would be able to say that. Being Featured Seller has been one of my goals for a few years now, which was difficult, because there's not a lot you can do directly to achieve it! The only thing I could do was to keep working, keep innovating, and stay positive.

That's part of the reason I was so bent on getting my office into shape! I took some pictures of it for the interview, but there is something wrong with my camera lens and most of the pictures I provided turned out horrible. I'll share some of the pics that didn't make the cut below, and head on over to the interview if you'd like!

I'm in a book!

So, I've managed to keep a secret for over a year. I did elude to being included in a book, but I didn't say which one! I am beyond thrilled to be featured in I Heart Stationery by Charlotte Rivers - also known in the online world as Lottie Loves.

I got a sneak peek of the book on Charlotte's blog a couple of weeks ago - I believe the book was released earlier in Europe and Asia, and was released in the U.S. on February 21st. I just got my copy in the mail today.

It was so much fun to flip through the pages. I will sit down tonight to really read all about the techniques and artists - I'm in the Paper Cutting section. It was also so neat to see some of my favorite paper artists ever in the book, such as 1Canoe2, Cabin + Cub, and A Quick Study (who you may remember from this blog as a time management guru!).

So, if you love all things paper - from cards to journals, recipe cards, stationery, etc., you will probably LOVE this book. Not only does it cover some of the most amazing paper artists out there, it also gives a brief overview of each technique, as long as a great list of sources and where you can find each artist online.

So that's my exciting news that I've been saving up for over a year! I can never thank Charlotte enough for this awesome opportunity.

New Baby!

Just popping in to explain the recent lull in new posts on this blog: I had my baby girl last week! She's sweet and healthy and consumes all of my time (along with my toddler). I've closed my shop for the next few weeks as well. See you next year!
